Perhaps you have heard of Net Neutrality, perhaps not. Do you truly care what might be the ending of free flowing Internet traffic as we know it? Net Neutrality is nothing new; however, business, government, and individuals like us are now going to see the battle of the net. So what is Net Neutrality? Skype Sold! To The Guy with 2.75 Billion!
We reported last night that Ebay was looking to sell Skype and was going to make an announcement on Tuesday…well…they did!
SAN JOSE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–eBay Inc. (NASDAQ:EBAY – News) today announced it has signed a definitive agreement to sell its Skype communications unit in a deal valuing the business at $2.75 billion. The buyer, who will control an approximately 65 percent stake, is an investor group led by Silver Lake and includes Index Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz and the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) Investment Board. eBay is expected to receive approximately $1.9 billion in cash upon the completion of the sale and a note from the buyer in the principal amount of $125 million. The company will retain an approximately 35 percent equity investment in Skype. The transaction, which is not subject to a financing condition, is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2009.

Ebay To Announce The Sale Of Skype
According to the New York Times, Ebay will announce on Tuesday that Skype will be sold to a group of private investors. Ebay mentioned that it will like $2 billion for the product. It is said that Marc Andreessen (Netscape Co-Founder) heads the venture capital firm that will be purchasing Skype. However, the Skype founders, at one time, were wanting to buy back Skype.
